Mold Inspection – Mildew in a Water Affected Building

By Robert

A water affected building will constantly be mold’s number one target. We’ve talked about this before. Even the smallest water leakage in your pipe system can cause black dots of toxic mold to appear on any possible organic surface. Mold should not be ignored, no matter what his real nature is. If you haven’t taken any serious actions regarding water damage in your house, chances that you will soon be dealing with mold are extremely high. Usually, when talking about the necessary period for mold to form and appear in any room in your house, we are referring to approximately 24 to 48 hours. This type of fungus does not require a lot of time in order to start growing and expanding. Just a little bit of moisture and a temperature above zero will lead to its fast formation and development. It is compulsory to run periodical mold inspections in water affected buildings; otherwise the appearance of mold is simply going to be inevitable. Mold has been on this planet even from the dawn of the times and will continue to be. It is very important in the nature’s circle of recreation. However, there are plenty of cases when our lifetime investment (our house) is exposed to this unwanted plant and becomes a real serious problem, both for our health and for the building that we own or living in as well.

Even if mold is present outdoors as well, it mostly prefers dark places and you are always going to see it in spots where there is not enough sunlight (to dry everything up) or no light at all. Moisture… dark creepy humidity is required for something like this to exist. However, one of the most important things that all of you should know about mold is its main cause – water. I had plenty of chance to talk with people who invested thousands of dollars when trying to remediate mold from their house and they succeeded to. Anyways, in less than one month it appeared again, just because they forgot to think about the importance of removing the cause first. Like with everything else in this world, prevention is required in order to keep troubles away. If you don’t learn how to do it you are going to experience some serious problems and sometimes even the most professional services for mildew eradication won’t be able to give you a hand. Remember, if you unfortunately had to face any serious water damage due to a flood, a rainstorm, a tornado or anything similar… you need to instantly do something about this. Call a water damage removal company and ask them to dry everything up. If you don’t keep your basement and any other rooms around your house water free you are going to have a lot of problems trying to prevent mold.

Mildew is just another name for mold (I guess you should already know this). Remember that any building or construction that has been affected by water in a way or another will have big chances for mold to start growing and dominating it. While walls and ceilings are usually those places where people tend to notice mold pretty fast, there is another interesting spot where mold loves to hide and that is exactly under your natural carpets. Yes, mildew loves to sit and grow there for one single reason. You failed to properly dry your floors after that big flood or water leakage that you faced a while ago. If you are dealing with any type of hardwood flooring inside your house, chances are that you will be required to totally remove it in order to get rid of the moisture and humidity and use mega ventilators to dry it up. Without drying (which is one of the most important processes that are required to be done after water damage) you will be facing mold in that particular house or building for the rest of your life. While there are plenty of responsible homeowners who will do everything possible to repair their house and make it look like before the flood or the inundation, in most of the cases people would seek options to sell it as fast as possible, usually at a miserable price. Water damage is extremely serious and will give you a head many years to come if the necessary mold inspection and prevention steps aren’t taken.

Besides just looking ugly, mold is also partially dangerous for your health. So even if you don’t live and sleep in a mold infected room, you are still exposed to certain breathing issues. So, whenever you have the chance to run a mold inspection campaign, do it without hesitation. The lack of taking immediate action will lead to thousands of dollars wasted for repairing your house and paying the fees of mold remediation companies. Avoid this hassle by constantly taking care of your house and helping it get back to normal after being exposed to any natural calamities as powerful rainstorms, floods of all kinds, tornado, etc.

Proper mold inspection is the key to a mold free settlement.
