Mold Inspection – Should I Hire a Mold Inspector?

By Robert

I’ve noticed that people would like to know the pros and cons of hiring a mold inspector. While there are plenty of solutions to detect and remove mold and mildew on your own, there are also plenty of situations when you might not simply have the necessary time to do it on your own. DIY mold inspection requires a little bit of investment (see mold inspection costs) and a lot time in order to understand how to use those mold test kits. In order words, if you don’t have the necessary experience you are going to stumble upon a lot of difficulties performing all the detection and removal work on your own. However, we are talking about prevention here and it necessary to be mentioned that the overall removal process is going to totally depend on the quality and the results of the performed mold inspection. Thus, if you are having issues trying to figure out how should a mold inspection be performed and realize that you won’t be able to handle this whole process, than it might be necessary to outsource this kind of dirty work and to find the appropriate financial means to pay someone else to do it.

Are you lacking experience?
There is no use in starting to do it on your own if you have absolutely no experience on mold and mildew and everything that you ever heard about regarding mold was during several TV shows on Discover Channel. Nowadays this is getting more and more complicated and plenty of other strange forms appear. I believe that if you don’t have the right level of knowledge regarding what to do when you think that you have mold in your house or apartment you should better find solutions to let professionals do the work. The lack of experience is probably one of the most important and one of the most sensitive reasons why should seek opportunities to either become better at detecting mold or trying to gather the necessary funds to pay the person that would accept to help in detecting all the possible references regarding mold or mildew around your house. In other words, if you have no clue what the heck is mold all about it is better to let someone who does to do everything. You can meanwhile do all that kind of stuff that you are good at. You save a lot of money and you make sure that the work is properly done. Let me know what you think about DIY, learning, experience and outsourcing mold inspection to others.

Are you lacking time?
I guess that most people who afford to have a nice house don’t stay at home all day long and do nothing. Most of them have one or two jobs or even a business. They are business entrepreneurs that are working like ten or even more hours per day trying to improve their life and the life of their family. Sometimes, time can be a major problem when it comes to even basic home improvement stuff. So, whenever you simply feel that you aren’t able to handle this on your own you will need to hire a professional mold inspection company. It doesn’t mean that you always have to do it. However, if you smell mold in the basement of your house and you know that you have to leave because there are certain important meetings that you need to attend… well… in this particular case finding a legal certified mold inspector in the yellow pages and kindly asking him to come to your house and investigate everything is exactly what you should be looking for. Otherwise you just risk waiting for the weekend to do it yourself and then simply become too tired of doing it… so forth and so on. You don’t want to miss any single day because if mold found a simple leakage of water and the air temperature is fine than it can vastly grow in just a number of days. You have to be attentive with its detection and I suggest hiring a mold inspector the very first moment you feel that it is necessary. Don’t leave it for tomorrow because tomorrow is another day and it might be already too late.

If you have no serious financial problems I don’t see why there would be any cons against hiring a professional mold inspector, even if you have time to do it on your own. I once realize that having a professional work in or around or house and watching his methods of doing stuff can be quite educative both for you and your small kids. That’s why I strongly recommend you to take into consideration talking with a certified mold inspection specialist about him checking your house for mold. If you don’t have a castle big house, I don’t think that you are going to be required to pay thousands. Just make sure that you explain these details on the phone before you actually ask him in. The cost is a not something to quarrel about especially if you are a serious person that’s why make sure that everything is set up and you have them assist you with mold detection after already decided about the cost.

There is nothing wrong with hiring a mold inspector if you don’t have what it takes to do it on your own. Period!
